Everett  A. Beeman, 45, of Butlerville passed away Sunday, November 09, 2003 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born at Greensburg on July 20, 1958, the son of Carl and Patricia McVey Beeman. He was married to Robin Graves on July 28, 1990 and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Kaitlin and Kasey Beeman, both at home; his parents Carl and Pat Beeman of Butlerville; one brother, Kenneth Beeman and his wife Cynthia and one sister Carla Franklin and her husband Mark, all of Holton. Mr. Beeman was a 1976 graduate of Jennings County High School and had been employed with Arvins. He was a member of the Nebraska Church of God and was co-owner of B & B Racing at Butlerville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 12^th at 11am at the Nebraska Church of God with Brother Patrick Harrigan officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 11^th from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton- Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Wednesday at the church. Dale Moss, Jr., 20, of Elizabethtown passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at his residence. He was born August 8, 1983 in Dallas, Texas the son of Dale and Betty Taulbee Moss. He is survived by his father Dale Moss, Sr. of Ashland Ohio; his mother and step-father Betty and Bruce Pettit of Elizabethtown; brothers Roger McAdams, Jr. and Pat McAdams both of Versailles, Bobby Pettit and Scott Pettit both of North Vernon, and Chris Sloan of Kentucky. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Geneva Taulbee, Marie Kauker,  and Bill Moss. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24^th at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Bruce Fitzsimmons of the Washington Baptist Church officiating.  Visitation will be from 12pm until time of services. Burial will be in the Green Cemetery near Versailles. Naomi L. Braley, 80, of Indianapolis passed away Tuesday October 21, 2003 at the St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in the Tanglewood community near Versailles on July 26, 1923 the daughter of Wilcy and Bernice McMartin Braley. She was a 1941 graduate of Versailles High School and a 1948 graduate of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She received her Bachelors degree in Nursing Education in 1965 from Indiana University and her Masters degree in 1973 from Butler University in Public Health. She had worked as an Industrial Nurse for International Harvester in Indianapolis for 29 years. She was past president of the Indiana Industrial Nurses Association and a past director of the American Association of Industrial Nurses. She was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church and a 61year member and past Matron of the Versailles Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her brothers, Charles William Braley of Indianapolis, Harold Braley of Madison, and Frank Braley of Versailles; one sister Dorothy Jeffries of Indianapolis along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Braley.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 23^rd at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Carter Corbey of the Versailles Southern Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 22^nd from 5pm to 7pm. Herbert Edward “Jim” Rimstidt, 86, of Napoleon passed away Friday, August 29, 2003 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was born near Napoleon on October 14, 1916, the son of Joseph and Margaret Bultman Rimstidt. Mr. Rimstidt was a farmer and had spent his entire life in the Napoleon community. He is survived by his brother Warren Rimstidt of Ottawa, Illinois; two sisters, Elsie Engle of Ottawa, Illinois and Bertha Miller of Versailles along with several nieces and nephews and his caregiver Connie Poole of Napoleon.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Earl Rimstidt and his sister Florene Engle. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2^nd at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Charles Cole of the Dabney Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery at Finks Corner near Osgood. Visitation will be Monday, September 1^st from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.

Dallas E. Henneke, 85, of Osgood, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2003 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born near Napoleon on June 7, 1918, the son of Harry and Viola Rimstidt Henneke. He was married to Margaret Carroll on October 18, 1938 and she survives. Other survivors include one son, Carroll Henneke and his wife Josie and one daughter, Audra Gilmer and her husband Spence (Butch) all of Indianapolis; three granddaughters, Shannon Milam and Autumn Roush both of Indianapolis, and Stacy Malone of Lakewood, Colorado; one grandson, Tyler Henneke of Winter Haven, Florida;one great-grandson, Cameron Milam; three sisters, Beverly Straber of Indianapolis, Donna Ricketts of Osgood, and Patricia Griffin of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles and sisters Georgia Gatlin and Virginia Kirch. Mr. Henneke was a 1935 graduate of Napoleon High School and was a charter member of the Osgood Moose Lodge. He was a farmer and operated a State Farm Insurance Agency in Osgood for several years. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 1^st at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd of the Cedar Creek Community Church officiating. Elmer R. Vogel, 94, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2003 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born near Cross Plains December 13, 1908 the son of Theodore and Lena Peters Vogel. He was married to Anna Schwagmeier  on May 3, 1941 and she preceded him in death on October 25,  1990. Mr. Vogel was a farmer and had spent his entire life in the Benham and Cross Plains community. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Olean where he served on the church council and was also a member of the Ripley County Farm Bureau. He is survived by one daughter, Eileen LaGreca and her husband Frank of Dillsboro, one son, Ralph Vogel and his wife Lois of Versailles; four grandchildren, Steve and Bradley Hunger and Kelly and Adam Vogel. Mr. Vogel was preceded in death by his grandson Mark Hunger and his son-in-law Paul Hunger.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27^th at 10am at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean with Rev. Marcus Felde officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 26 from 6pm to 9pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Charles E. Mulford, 65, of Osgood passed away Sunday, August 17, 2003 at his residence. He was born at Friendship on June 13, 1938, the son of Clarence and Margaret Spatz Mulford. He was married to Linda Hudson on June 2, 1961 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Tim Mulford of Greensburg and Scott Mulford and his wife Sandy of Versailles; three daughters, Teresa Holman and her friend Ray Meeker, Missy Keith and her husband Tim, and Mindy Gunter and her husband Wayne, all of Osgood; two brothers, Jim Mulford and his wife Wilma of Versailles, and Don Mulford and his wife Mary Ann of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister, Marian Weaver of Franklin; father and mother-in-law Ed and Betty Hudson of Seymour and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joe Mulford. Mr. Mulford was a plasterer for Halcombs for many years and was retired from Batesville Casket. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20^th at 11am at the Stratton Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd and Rev. Rodney Osborne officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19 from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery at Osgood. Garnett M. Cline, 70, of Versailles passed away Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was born January 23, 1933 at Grantsville, West Virginia the daughter of Herman and Nellie Connelly DeWeese. She was a certified nurses aide and is survived by her companion Wilson McClure. Lucille D. Morris, 80, of Versailles passed away Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born at Benham on February 26, 1923, the daughter of Harry and Delcene Steele Eaton. She was married to Glenn Morris on September 26, 1942 and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1997. Mrs. Morris was a 1942 graduate of Versailles High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church and attended the Tyson United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters Brenda Whitaker and husband Doug of Lafayette and Connie Morris of Versailles; grandsons Chad Whitaker of West Lafayette and Matthew Whitaker of Lafayette and one great-granddaughter Ellie Lynn Whitaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill Eaton, Chester Eaton, Jesse Eaton and Howard Eaton, and her sisters Helen Bultman, Hilda White, Esther Brunner, and Katherine Francis. Visitation will be Monday, August 18 from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Melvin T. Smith, 80, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at The Waters of Batesville. He was born at Farmers Retreat on June 20, 1923 the son of Gustav and Anna Marie Kinker Smith. He was married to Mary Jane McCoy on April 3, 1948 and she survives. He is also survived by one son, David Smith and his wife Lynne of New Castle, four sisters, Alverta Smith of Cincinnati, Verna Mayor of Michigan, Marian Rucker and Doris Strimple both of Aurora; Two grandsons, Robert and Steven Smith of Greenfield, one granddaughter, Allison Senniger of Indianapolis and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Elmer and Don Smith and his sisters Gladys Whitaker and Betty Smith. Mr. Smith was a farmer and was employed for many years with the Halcomb Home Center at Versailles. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Olean and was a 1941 graduate of Cross Plains High School. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Norman W. Diem, 78, of Osgood passed away Saturday July 19, 2003 at the Riverwalk Village in Noblesville. He was born near Versailles on February 26, 1925, the son of Herman and Cora Williams Diem and was married to Elaine Schroder on December 21, 1946. Mrs Diem passed away on November 28, 2002.  Mr. Diem was a 1943 graduate of Versailles High School and was an Army veteran of  WWII. He was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.  He was a member of the Osgood United Methodist Church,  a former member of the Osgood Lions Club, a former member and chief of the Osgood Volunteer Fire Department,  a 45 year member of the Osgood Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite. Mr. Diem was formerly employed with Bob Aikins, Vines Poultry, and along with his wife owned and operated Osgood Frozen Foods for 23 years retiring in 1987. Survivors include one son, Ronald W. Diem and his wife Mary of Lafayette, one daughter, Jacqueline E. Layton and her husband Charles of Noblesville, one grandson, Robert Pipes and his wife Sara of Rochelle, Illinois, and one great-grandson, Austin Pipes, and also several cousins. Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen Diem. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 22^nd at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with the Revs. Rob and Maxine Rixman of the Osgood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Cemetery at Finks Corner. Visitation will be Monday, July 21^st from 5pm to 8pm  with Masonic services at 7:30pm. Egbert N. Conover, 78, of Holton passed away Tuesday, July 15 at the Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. He was born in the Hopewell community near Holton on April 18, 1925, the son of Asa and Dena Bennett Conover. He was married to Leota Franklin on April 12, 1953 and she survives. Other survivors his mother-in-law, Mrs. Ida Franklin of the Hopewell community, two sons, Norman Conover,  Nathan Conover and his wife Becky all of Holton; two daughters, Susan Black and her husband Larry of Osgood, and Sally Webster and her husband Mike of Versailles and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Anna May Conover.  Mr. Conover attended the Conover school in the Hopewell community and was a 1943 graduate of Holton High School. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, and the Army of Occupational Japan Medal. He was stationed on Bataan Island in the Philippines and heard General Douglas MacArthur proclaim “ I shall return.”  He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and the Napoleon VFW. Mr. Conover was a truck driver for Standard Oil for 28 years. Funeral services will be Friday, July 18^th at 11am at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Sharon L. Smith, 66, of Morristown, formerly of Versailles, passed away Sunday, July 6^th at St. Vincents Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born near Versailles on November 23, 1936, the daughter of Casper (Jack) and Jennie Rocca Hankins. She was married to Leroy Smith on February 6, 1960 and he survives. She is also survived by two sisters, Penny Smith of Vincennes and Mary Greene of Uttica, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Jack Hankins. Mrs. Smith was employed with Naval Avionics in Indianapolis for 37 years. She was a 1955 graduate of Versailles High School and was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 9^th at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Mark Walker of the Versailles Baptist Church officiating. Dennis R. Owens, 56, of Osgood passed away Friday, June 13, 2003 at his residence. He was born in the Cedar Creek community near Osgood on July 28, 1946, the son of Glenn and Ethel Goodpaster Owens. He was married to Beverly Shinkle on January 29, 1966 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Dennis R. Owens, Jr. and his wife Deena of Dillsboro, Brian Owens and his wife Jennifer of Madison; one daughter, Beth Owens of Versailles; six grandchildren; six brothers, Eugene Owens, Charles Owens, Joe Owens, Jim Owens, John Owens, and Russell Owens all of Osgood; three sisters, Georgia Adkinson of Elrod, Alice Faye Mills of Osgood, and Lou Trueblood of Salem. Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, and his brother Raliegh Dale Owens. Mr. Owens was a 1965 graduate of Versailles High School and had been employed with US Shoe for 25 years. He was an Army veteran and was also a licensed auctioneer having owned and operated Owens Auction Barn in Versailles and Napoleon. He was currently employed with the Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun. Visitation will be Monday, June 16^th from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Thomas A. (Tom) Comer, 54, of Indianapolis, formerly of Holton, passed away Wednesday May 28 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. Mr. Comer was born at Batesville on January 12, 1949 the son of Henry Jr. and Evelyn Dudley Comer. He was a 1967 graduate of Holton High School  and a 1972 graduate of Purdue University with a bachelors degree in agriculture mechanization.  He also received an Associate degree from IUPUI in computer technology. Mr. Comer had received many honors and awards in Ripley County 4H as well as with the FFA at Holton High School. He had been employed with Merchants Bank and Mallory Controls in Indianapolis. Mr. Comer was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and the Purdue Agriculture Alumni.   He is survived by his parents, Henry and Evelyn Comer of Holton, his brother Donald Comer and wife Gloria of Holton,  his sister Sharon Allen and husband Bob of Charlestown, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Connie Jane Comer. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 1^st at 2pm at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Calling will be Saturday, May 31^st from 4pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Cpl. Leslie Scott Stratton USMC, 22, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina passed away Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Mr. Stratton was a native of Holton and had been in active duty with USMC since April of 2000 and completed basic training at the USMC Depot in San Diego. After basic training he completed his AIT at Camp Pendleton, California and then served with the 2^nd Division 8^th Marines as a scout sniper. In February 2001 Cpl. Stratton was assigned to the Battalion Landing Team of the 24^th Marine Expeditionary Unit assigned to the USS Kearsarge. He also served over seas missions in France, Macedonia, Morocco, Turkey, and the USSR.  He was born at Madison on October 8, 1980, the son of Leslie Jr. and Vernice Owens Stratton. He was a 1999 graduate of South Ripley High School and was a member of the Dabney Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Les and Vernice Stratton of Holton, one brother, Roger Stratton of New Albany, and one sister, Jennifer Stratton of Holton; his fiancé Katherine Algets of Georgia; his maternal grandparents, Joe and Susan Owens of Osgood, his grandmother Carol Stratton of Holton, several cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leslie and Ruby Stratton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28^th at 10:30am at the Dabney Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Dabney Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27^th, from 3pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Amelia Lily Holman, 92, of New Marion passed away Saturday, May 24, 2003 at her residence. She was born in the West Fork community on December 24, 1910 the daughter of Harry and  Myrtie Shepard Geisler. She was married to Truman Holman on April 11, 1936 and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1994. Mrs Holman was a homemaker and a member of the West Fork Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Lester Holman and his wife Renea of Madison, Harry and Bernadette Holman of New Marion, Roy and Vickie Holman of Versailles; four daughters, Dina Herbert and her husband Vernon of Millhousen, Darlene Holman of New Marion, Myrtie Franklin and her husband Frank of the Hopewell community, and Brenda Holman of Greensburg;14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alta Asche of North Vernon, Freda Ellis and Delta Little, both of Madison. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Alva Geisler, Lester Geisler, and Leslie Geisler, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.  Funeral services will be held Monday, May 26^th at 11am at the West Fork Baptist Church near Rexville. Edna Pennington, 76, of Elrod, passed away Saturday, May 31^st at her residence. She was born at Laurel Creek , Kentucky on October 28, 1926, the daughter of Woodard and Amelia Jane Ball Sawyers. She was married to Nevel Pennington on December 7, 1941 and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Pennington was a homemaker and a member of the Washington Baptist Church at Elrod. She is survived by three sons; Ruick Pennington and his companion Gwen, Kenny Jordan and wife Debbie, and Tony Pennington and wife Shari all of Elrod; eight daughters; Earline Copeland and her husband Kenny of Versailles, Joyce and Jerry Vogel of Friendship, Judy and Les Wright, Cheryl and Dana Hooton, Shelley and Darrell Smith all of Madison, Pat  and Jeff Owens of Elrod, Kim and Bob Brown of Seymour, and Teri and Trace Cutter of Milan; 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clay Sawyers of Burlington, Kentucky; two sisters; Zilphia Ludington of Cincinnati and Bitha Byrd of Manchester. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughters Katherine and Verna Marie, four great-grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters. Jack H. Baugh, 66, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, May 17^th at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis on March 22, 1937, the son of Gale and Evelyn Brenneman Baugh, both deceased. Marty Mitchell, 49, of West Harrison, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis on February 9, 1954, the son of Bert and Mary Anderson Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a brick layer with Local 18 of Cincinnati and was a member of the Sunman Masonic Lodge.   Survivors include his mother, Mary Mitchell of  Moores Hill,  one son, Troy Mitchell and his wife Lydia of Kissimmee, Florida, daughters Annette Gregory of Bright and Heather Mitchell of Harrison;  five grandchildren, six brothers, Bud Mitchell of Elgin, SC, Lonnie Mitchell of Lawrenceburg, Victor Mitchell of Zephyr Hills, Florida, Nolan Mitchell of Inverness, Florida, Edward Mitchell of Rising Sun, and Sgt. Lorraine Taylor, 74, of Osgood, passed away Friday, April 25^th at the Waters in Batesville. She was born at Paint Lick, Kentucky on December 6, 1928, the daughter of John and Bertha Moberly Mack. Mrs. Taylor was retired from US Shoe and was a member of the Tanglewood Christian Church. She is survived by three sons, Jerry Russell and his wife Christy of Versailles, Robert Russell and his wife Jeannie of Sealy Lake, Montana, and Thomas Russell and wife Tracy of Missouri; eight daughters, Betty Antrobus and Terry of Indianapolis, Linda Vinson and Irvin of Milan, Shirley Tyler and Tom of North Vernon, Debbie McIntosh of Osgood, Nancy Canada and David of Holton, Patty Powers and Rodney of Batesville, Leitha Blair and Tim of Osgood, Vickie Clayton and Joe of Holton; 39 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Virginia Wilson Powers, 88, of Versailles, formerly of Madison passed away Tuesday evening, April 15^th at the Dillsboro Manor. She was born at Bennington on June 27, 1914 the daughter of Frank and Jane Cole Bear. She was married to Harold Wilson on September 6, 1930 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 1951.  She is survived by four sons; Harold Lloyd Wilson and his wife Judy of Dillsboro, Harvey Wilson and his wife Liza, Frank Wilson and his wife Lana, all of Commiskey, and Paul Wayne Wilson and his wife Brenda of Cross Plains; two daughters, Esther Smith and her husband Robert of Versailles and Patty Johnson of Lexington, Indiana; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her granddaughter Melinda Thompson, her great-granddaughter Jennifer Smith, five brothers and four sisters. Roscoe Vogel, 91, of Versailles passed away Sunday evening, April 13 at the Dillsboro Manor. He was born near Cross Plains on April 3, 1912, the son of Frank and Edith Ricketts Vogel. He was married to Ruth Willman on May 19, 1934 and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Janice Sedam and her husband Richard of Indianapolis; one son, Gerald Vogel and his wife Joyce of Versailles; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Geneva Fischer. Mr. Vogel was a farmer and retired from Seagrams in 1973. She was born at Madison on November 17, 1962, the daughter of Robert E. and Esther Wilson Smith. She was married to Kevin Thompson on May 22, 1982 and he survives. Lillian C. Feller, 90, of Versailles passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003 at the Waters at Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born at Allardt, Tennessee on April 26, 1912, the daughter of Carl and Rosa Schultz Diem. She was married to Arthur Feller on June 27, 1942 and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1990. Mrs. Feller was a homemaker and a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean. She formerly worked as a cook for the Wyler family in Cincinnati and was employed with the Streatman Biscuit Company in Cincinnati. She is survived by a step-daughter, Jean Scheibel of Guilford; one sister, Florence Bultman of Richmond and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Herman Diem, Otto Diem, William Diem, Henry Diem, and Hugo Diem; also by four sisters, Clara Jahnigen, Erna Werner, Bertha Marshall, and Lena Eaton. Lucille A. Miller, 94, of Versailles passed away Tuesday April 1st at the Shady Nook Nursing Home in Lawrenceburg. She was born at Olean on July 9, 1908, the daughter of Emmett and Louise Kroeger Williams. She was married to Frank Miller on September 4, 1929 and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1981. Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Osgood. She was a 1926 graduate of Holton High School, a member of Delta Rho Tri-Kappa, and played in several bridge clubs in the Versailles area. Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne Giltner and her husband Cliff of Lawrenceburg, four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Hallie Miller of Hamilton, Ohio. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Ada Freudenstein. Aubrey O. (Babe) Estell, 99, of New Marion passed away Thursday, March 20^th  at the home of his daughter in Taylorsville. He was born at Willow Branch in Hancock County, Indiana on September 22, 1903 the son of Joseph and Mary Lyda Gibson Estell.  He was married to Mary Kennens on November 30, 1936 and she preceded him in death on February 29, 1988. Survivors include five daughters; Clara Clem of Brownsburg, Shirley Franklin of Holton, Judy Roberts of Taylorsville, Marsha Grigsby of Spencer, OK, and Cheryl Robbins of North Vernon; one son Rick Estell of Holton; fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great- grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Russell, Bryan,  and Raymond Estell and his sisters Gladys Baker and Pearl Toremlin, and two grandchildren.  Mr. Estell, along with his brothers constructed many barns and homes in southeastern Indiana. Edward Lee Jolly, 71, of Versailles passed away Sunday at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born at Benham on February 7, 1932, the son of Thomas Edward and Lela Whitton Jolly. He was married to Hope Marie Melton on October 26, 1985 and she survives. Other survivors include five daughters; Lisa Sanders and her husband Dennis of Versailles, Linda Pettit and her husband Ervin of Moores Hill, Cindy Cushing of Cleves, Pam Bressert and her husband Randy of Versailles, and Brenda Vaughn and her husband Greg of Seymour; three sons Rick Jolly of Hyden, Kentucky, Charles Jolly and his wife Veronica of Moorefield, and Mark McClure of Shelbyville; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one sister Mabel Hyatt of Madison and his sister-in-law Kathy Hoffman of Cross Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents, his half-brothers Howard and Kirby Jolly, his son Donald and his daughter Vicky Lynn Jolly. Mr. Jolly was retired from Monsanto and was a 1950 graduate of Cross Plains High School. He was an Army veteran of Korea. Mr. Jolly attended the Cross Plains Church of Christ where he was baptized on September 14, 2000. Charles Michael (Mike) White, 44, of Versailles passed away Friday, March 7^th at his residence. He was born August 8, 1958 at Batesville. He is survived by his father, Frank Braley of Versailles, one brother Bruce Braley and his wife Nancy of Bedford, Pennsylvania; sisters Carla Stenger and her husband Peter and Alena White all of Versailles; his Godchild and niece Charity Barrett of Rexville and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Smith Braley.  Mr. White was a 1976 graduate of South Ripley High School and was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran and had served for nine years in the Indiana National Guard and was a bricklayer with Brewer Construction of Versailles. She was born at New Marion on June 1, 1925, the daughter of Rufus and Lillie Brown Myers and was married to Cecil Swinney on June 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death on December  11, 1997. Keith Hull, 84, of Holton passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at the St.Vincent Jennnings Community Hospital in North Vernon. He was born in the Hopewell community near Holton on January 4, 1919, the son of Golden and Velma Waters Hull.  He was a farmer, attended the Hopewell Baptist Church and attended  the Conover School in the Hopewell neighborhood. Mr. Hull is survived by his brother Wayne Hull  and wife Carole of Holton, sisters Gloria Kitley and her husband John of Indianapolis, Zuella McNew and her husband Robert of Holton, and Phyllis Shaw and her husband Phillip of Marysville: Also his sister-in-law Jean Hull of North Vernon and several nieces and nephews. Matthew A. Kinzer, 23, of Greendale Passed away Sunday February 2, 2003 at Dearborn County Hospital. Samuel O. Foster was born at Columbia, Kentucky on October 3, 1919, the son of William E. and Lou Burton Foster and departed this life on January 31, 2003 in Louisville. Sam was married to Gladys Peebles on April 22, 1977 and she survives. Other survivors include his sister Maxine and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William A. Foster, his sisters Anna Burton, Alma Kennedy, Pearlie Alley, and Hattie Cowan.  Sam was an Army veteran of WWII where he served in Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and in Central Europe. He was a member of the 35^th Chemical Decon Co. and  was awarded two bronze stars for military valor. Sam was employed by the Ripley County Farm Bureau Co-op where he worked at the Holton Mill. Mary E. Beach, 81, of Lousiville passed away Monday at the Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. She was born at Cincinnati on December 9, 1921, the daughter of William and Fannie Carr Nuckles. She was married to James Leslie Beach on April 17, 1946 and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1986. Mrs. Beach was raised in the Holton area. She is survived by her son Ronald Beach of Evansville, her daughter Beverly Moore and her husband James of Louisville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Sam and Velma Stickelman of Holton and her niece Cynthia Stickelman Melton of Holton. Mrs. Beach was an Army veteran of WWII and served in the WAC as a weather observer. She was awarded the Bronze Star for her participation in the Battle of the Rhineland  and the Battle of the Bulge. She was also awarded the American Freedom, Good Conduct, American Campaign, Womans Army Corps, and the WWII Victory medal. Asche, 64, of Versailles died Sunday January 12th at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born at Osgood on January 31, 1938 the daughter of William Hoover and Naomi Courtney Strimple and was married to Wayne Asche on September 7, 1957 and he survives.  Other survivors include her mother Mrs.Naomi Strimple of Osgood, three brothers; Don Strimple and Wayne Strimple both of Versailles, and Rex Strimple of Holton; two sisters; Kay Wells of South Bend, and Mary Mosier of Osgood, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father and two infant children.  Mrs.  Asche was a 1956 graduate of Osgood High School and had worked as a teller at the Ripley County Bank.  She had also worked as a financial officer for the School of Home Economics for Purdue University, a financial secretary for the Hubbard Haven Home in New Carlisle, Indiana and also for the United Methodist Church in Kent, Ohio.  She had also owned and operated a clothing store in New Carlisle, and was a substitute teacher.  Mrs.  Asche was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church.  Funeral services will be Wednesday January 15 at 11am at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev.  Mark Walker officiating.  Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery.  Calling will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services at the church.  Memorials may be given to the Diabetes foundation, Cancer fund, or the Tanglewood Cemetery.

James Wm. Buchanan, 83, of St. Cloud, Florida passed away Wednesday January 8 at the Orlando Regioal Hospital in  St. Cloud. Mr. Buchanan was born near Benham on August 9, 1919, the son of Benjamin and Sarah Benefiel Buchanan. He was married to Laura Johnson on June 24, 1941, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons; Carl Buchanan of St. Cloud, and James Jr. of Lincoln Park, Michigan; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother Wilkie Buchanan of  Cincinnati; two sisters; Martha Browning and Naomi Peaslee both of Versailles. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Emmett and Kenneth, and his sister Faye Ramsey.  Mr. Buchanan was retired from Great Lakes Steel in River Rouge, Michigan. He was an army veteran of WWII and a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Cloud. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 14^th at 2pm at the Stratton- Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Carl Martin of the Benham United Methodist Church officiating.  Calling will be from 12pm until time of the services. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the cemetery.
